In Gondar Ethiopia, where more than 8,000 Jews await Aliya / immigration to Israel, Passover preparations begun weeks ago. They hand make all of their Matzah. The process starts by sifting and checking the flour. Then under the supervision of Rabbi Menachem Waldman, the flour is hand mixed with water, quickly rolled out and formed, and finally baked on the open fire.
The Jewish Agency from Israel currently has staff on the ground in Gondar and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia processing people for Aliya. This community has been waiting literally decades to move to Israel. We truly hope that when they say "next year in Jerusalem"at the end of their Passover Seder this year it really will come true.
