On November 29, 2020, Dr. Morris Hartstein flew with an Israeli delegation led by Member of Knesset Pnina Tamano-Shata to Addis Ababa. During this 5-day trip Dr. Hartstein showed MK Tamano-Shata the dire humanitarian conditions in the Jewish compound, including the severe malnutrition suffered by many children in the community. She also joined him during one of his mobile eye clinics to observe his work, and see the types of medical eye conditions that exist there. Upon return to Israel, they brought with them 300 new olim / immigrants to Israel, some of whom had waited nearly 20 years to emigrate. Approximately 11,000 still remain in Ethiopia, awaiting Aliya.
